Avec « En mouvement », il est question d’une certaine manière de s’intéresser aux mouvements physiques mais aussi aux mouvements de l’esprit.

“In Motion” is about a certain kind of interest in physical movements, but also in movements of the mind.

Dans sa pratique, Gladys Bourdon interroge la perception du réel en l’analysant sous différentes formes : notamment en multipliant et en juxtaposant les points de vue au sens propre comme figuré, mais aussi en décomposant le temps en une succession d’instants donnés et la matière en tentant de la pénétrer d’un infini à un autre.

En mouvement #0 été réalisé en vue d'une résidence Ateliers du Grand Est à Épinal en juin 2024 durant laquelle les planétariums d’Épinal et de Reims entreront en conversation avec l’artiste en lui proposant des données visuelles astronomiques témoignant des processus à l’œuvre dans l’Univers. Gladys extraira de ces images des lignes, formant, ce qu'elle nomme la « cartographie de l’image ». Grâce à celle-ci, elle proposera en retour des séries de dessins digitaux. Introduction à la résidence : « On a longtemps pensé que les étoiles étaient fixées à la voûte céleste et encore aujourd’hui à notre échelle, l’espace nous semble immuable. Pourtant, l’astronomie nous révèle que tout est bel et bien constamment en mouvement. Que ce soit dans le travail de Gladys Bourdon ou en appréhendant l’espace, il s’agira d’interroger notre rapport au mouvement. »

Par ailleurs, ces réflexions rendent hommage au travail des cubistes à travers l’idée qu’il s’agit sur un même support de décomposer le réel et d’en juxtaposer des points de vue mais aussi par le fait que chacun de ces derniers prend l’apparence d’une facette.

In her work, Gladys Bourdon questions the perception of reality by analysing it in different ways: in particular by multiplying and juxtaposing points of view, both literally and figuratively, but also by breaking down time into a succession of given moments and matter by attempting to penetrate it from one infinity to another.

In Motion #0 was created with a view to a Ateliers du Grand Est residency in Épinal in June 2024, during which the planetariums of Épinal and Reims will enter into conversation with the artist, offering him astronomical visual data testifying to the processes at work in the Universe. Gladys extracts lines from these images, forming what she calls the “cartography of the image”. In return, she will propose a series of digital drawings. Introduction to the residency: “For a long time, we thought that the stars were fixed to the celestial vault, and even today, on our own scale, space still seems immutable. Yet astronomy tells us that everything is in constant motion. Whether in Gladys Bourdon's work or in our understanding of space, we will be questioning our relationship with movement.”

These reflections also pay homage to the work of the Cubists, through the idea of breaking down reality and juxtaposing points of view on the same support, and through the fact that each point of view takes on the appearance of a facet.
